New Studio

I finished the first coat on the new studio today. It's a mud color, perfect for The Mudroom.

I can't wait to move in. It's looking like it will be the first of April.

I need to install flooring this weekend. That is going to be a huge job but once it's done I can start moving everything in.

It's all very exciting. I'm movin on up...

Improvements on the new studio

I am moving forward with the new studio. It's a bit of a gamble for sure but nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'm hoping to be moved in and up and running the first week of April.

There's lots to do before the move. I am currently painting and hopefully installing flooring this weekend.

Check out the new color on the walls. It's called Moroccan Henna. It looks like clay to me.

New Pots

I made a new batch of yarn bowls on the wheel today. I love taking pictures of finished pots all lined up like soldiers.
Sometimes right before going to the studio I will procrastinate and drag my feet. Sometimes even pottery can feel like work but then I get on the wheel and I forget everything. I lose myself in the process. I let my hands intuitively flow over the clay, my head clears and I feel lucky that I get to do this.

For any of you that are interested in yarn bowls, let me know. The small ones are $20 and larger bowls are $25.

Yarn bowls for knitters

I have been knitting for seven or eight months now. I wanted to combine my two current obsessions, knitting and clay. A friend told me about yarn bowls and after some research I've made my own. They are really great for holding your skein/yarn ball in place while knitting and it's harder for my kitten to get to.

If anyone is interested I will make one for you too, they are $20.

A new space for The Mudroom Pottery Studio

I am new to blogging and not much of a writer but I am embarking on a new phase in my career as a studio potter. It seemed like a great way to share with family, friends and students the progression of the studio. I have been making pots in my home studio for a few years now and I've been teaching lessons and workshops there for almost a year. I have recently found a new space in town and I am working on making it the new home for The Mudroom Pottery Studio.

I have included some before pictures. This is what the space currently looks like. I have lots of changes in mind.
